Basic First Aid Training provides essential knowledge and skills to help individuals respond effectively to medical emergencies. Whether at home, in the workplace, or in public spaces, having first aid training can save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming serious.
The goal of this training is to:
OSHA Standards: Adhering to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines for medical services and first aid, as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.151.
First Aid Certification: Obtaining certification through accredited organizations such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Basic First Aid Training empowers individuals to take immediate and appropriate action during medical emergencies. By learning essential skills and practicing regularly, participants can contribute to a safer environment and potentially save lives. Ongoing training and refresher courses are recommended to maintain competency and readiness.
This lesson provides an overview of first aid principles, the role of a first aider, and the importance of quick and effective responses during emergencies.
Learners will be introduced to the basic framework for assessing and managing different emergency situations.
The "Basic First Aid V.1" course is designed to equip learners with essential life-saving skills and knowledge to respond effectively to common emergencies.
This comprehensive course covers the fundamentals of first aid, including how to assess situations, provide immediate care, and ensure safety until professional help arrives. Ideal for individuals, employees, caregivers, and community members, this course emphasizes practical skills that can make a difference during critical moments.
Throughout this course, participants will gain hands-on understanding of basic first aid techniques such as CPR, wound care, choking response, and handling fractures. By the end of the course, learners will be prepared to act confidently and responsibly in emergency situations.
This lesson outlines the duties and ethical responsibilities of a first-aider, including how to stay calm, prioritize care, and follow legal guidelines when assisting casualties.
A competent first-aider should demonstrate:
Gain an understanding of what it means to be a first-aider, the importance of quick action, and how first aid can save lives in critical moments.
Learn how to assess emergencies safely, identify hazards, and apply the DRSABCD approach to ensure an effective response without putting yourself at risk.
Discover the key first-aid techniques needed to stabilize casualties, provide reassurance, and efficiently communicate with emergency responders.
Understand the importance of documenting incidents, keeping first-aid kits stocked, and ensuring all safety equipment is ready for emergencies.

After suffering from a cardiac arrest, with each passing minute, a casualty’s chance of survival diminishes roughly by 6-10%. The chain of survival is a series of actions, or links, that when put quickly in motion increase the odds of survival. If the chain is broken, or has a link missing, the odds of survival will be reduced.
