Practical Process Control Engineering

This course is designed to improve the ability of course participants to identify and correct process control problems and in particular, control loop problems. The course is intended for a general technical audience consisting of instrumentation engineers, process engineers, control system engineers and operations personnel. It will also be useful to electrical/instrument technicians involved in control loop trouble-shooting and/or control loop tuning.

Also, the course is designed to give a solid, practical understanding of common process control equipment and of the actual concepts and factors involved in setting up, maintaining, tuning, and troubleshooting a variety of control systems.

The course is a combination of classroom based lectures and computer based lab work. The lab work consists of controller tuning and process control trouble-shooting exercises using a PC based process and control system dynamic simulator of a typical stock preparation process.

The sofwtare program includes temperature, flow, level, and other process control system.

What You Will Gain

  1. Understand the actual control loops that you work with, and learn about the limitations and possibilities of your  equipment.
  2. Learn how to improve productivity, efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  3. Save time and money on your next renovation or upgrade
  4. Learn how to choose and setup the right control applications and control strategies for your plant processes.
  5. Learn to design, setup, configure, and tune actual control loops in a safe environment.
