MECHNICAL SEALS (TROUBLE SHOOTING & MAINTENANCE)

Plant availability is greatly influenced by the extended reliable performance of mechanical shaft seals. Reduction of the maintenance effort depends on the understanding of the operating and maintenance requirements of these components. Correct selection and application as well as maintenance affect greatly cost optimisation, plant availability, personnel and equipment safety as well as environmental issues. The different types of mechanical shaft seals, their applications and failure modes are carefully examined.

The course is also designed to primarily and specifically enhance Operations and to give confidence to personnel involved in Mechanical and Dry Gas Seals Maintenance and Trouble Shooting capabilities. This course includes a step by step guide to the Seals Function, Fitting and Replacement decision. It is a Theory course which has many graphics and pictorials to help the participant in their understanding during training and when they need to apply in their work schedules.

The course instructor is highly experienced and International renowned trainer in Mechanical and Dry Gas Seals. This Course is conducted as Theory Sessions.

Course Objectives

This Course has been designed to give participants the skills and knowledge to:

  • Understand the basic functions of sealing arrangements and in particular mechanical seals for pumps and for compressors, including the latest developments.

  • Mechanical shaft seals, double seals, seal balance, auxiliaries, safety aspects, emissions control, failure modes and causes, seal-less pumps, compressor seals, dry gas seals and the relevant topics
  • Practical skills on the handling, installation, relevant diagnostics, failure modes and causes.
  • Methods of improving reliability and availability of the plant and equipment and how to avoid premature and infant mortality
  • Theoretical and practical skills for their selection, operation and maintenance are considered

Course Highlights

The program includes interactive discussions, extensive case studies, examples and exercises to emphasize certain aspects of this program and to highlight critical points and optimize the participant’s involvement and learning potential.

This is program is also available in a ‘on the job quick reference manual as post course reading.
