 INTRODUCTION

     Corrosion is a natural process and is a result of the inherent tendency of metals to revert to their more stable compounds, usually oxides. Corrosion causes huge losses in all industries. The good understanding of corrosion process and various methods to control it is the key to reduce a great amount of losses in labor and money.

     The intention of this course is to provide participants with the basic and practical considerations related to corrosion and cathodic protection to help extend the working life of assets and equipment.
